Dancing in Fetters is a museum exhibition that presents the forgotten culture of early Australian convicts.  From 2021 to 2024, the exhibition was hosted by seven museums around Australia with links to convict history, leading to a number of opportunities for local musicians, dancers, and singers.  All the venues were delighted to present a different, positive aspect of the convict experience, and all were able to include local content.  This highly successful tour was funded by the Australian Government’s Visions of Australia and auspiced by the Abbey Museum, partnered by Bush Traditions Inc.

The National Folklore Conference is held every year prior to the National Folk Festival by the Australian Folklore Network, coordinated and resourced through the Australian Folklore Research Unit at Curtin University,Perth, Western Australia.
